EMBROIDERING ON CAPS
Choosing a Cap for Embroidery
There are several different types of hats that we carry. There are knit caps, bucket hats, visors, and baseball caps. The most popular option for embroidery is the baseball caps.
When deciding which baseball cap is best for you, there are a couple of choices. We offer ones with a high profile, constructed-crown. These have high, flat fronts that have a large area for embroidery, but they are not too popular with the younger crowd. There are caps with low profile, unconstructed-crowns. The front of these are lower and have a sloping crown. While they are the most popular style of cap, it has a more limited space for embroidery. We also carry low-profile caps that are constructed, so they have a more upright front. Professional sports teams typically use this style.
All of the above mentioned styles are 6-paneled hats, which mean that they have a seam that goes down front in the middle.
Logo FactorsThe maximum height for a logo on a cap is 4.5”wide, by 2.25” high.
A constant problem for embroidering on anything is text size, and it is an even bigger issue on hats. A logo may need re-thinking if small text is included. Script or serif fonts are not recommended for text ˝” or smaller. We advise using capitalized letters in a sans serif font (such as Ariel). If the text in your design will not sew out well, we will let you know.
Most people place their logo on the front of the cap, in the center. However, it has recently become popular to have a website address along the back of the hat, with the company logo on the front. Some people also utilize the size panels for small designs. Interesting text or logos placed here can look nicely sometimes without making the hat look too busy.
